Beatles on TV last Night
« on: January 26, 2005, 08:28:20 AM »

Any one see the doco on BBC2 last night about the 4 guys trying to start a Beatle-themed hotel in Liverpool?
They did an interview with John's sister Julia (they played "Julia" in the background, which I thought was a bit cheap, seeing it's about his mum).
Not sure about the hotel idea. Would you stay there ? ("Two Beatle Burgers and a Paul Pudding to the Imagine Sweet please.".) hmmm

it was interesting-but man, there are some scary Beatle fans out there.
the hotel's going to be called A Hard Days Night-opening in'06 for the next Beatles fest.
They showed a horrific Beatle theme bar in Spain called Eleanor Rigbies. the lawsuits should be fun.
They tried to pass of the Cavern Club in L'pool as the original! i thought the building was gone and the new ones a fake?

45 minutes, bang after Auschwitz on BBC 2. Series called "Trouble at the top" about struggling businessmen. And it began with a blast of Helter Skelter - great when you're expecting the 10 o'clock news.

BBC has a show called Time Trumpet. It's set in 2031 and is supposed to be a light entertainment show looking back at the 2005-2010 era, using clips, interviewing celebs ( a 60 yearold David Beckham for instance).
Anyways they had a neat clip of George Bush speaking the lines of Imagine (crafted together using soundbites from speeches) set over the backing track to Walk On The Wildside. Condaleeza Rice did the dodedo bit after "and all the cloured girls go.." which was used as a chorus( a bit un-pc I know, but call it satire and you can do what you want).
Very wierd but very well done.
