What a pity. :P Lucky you've been laid before though. I'm still a virgin.

Tomorrow I have school, yet again.

Tomorrow I get to stack a cord of wood for the winter.  Only heat source I have.

Sometime in March or April my back will stop hurting. :)

Bump.

I’m driving an hour both ways to take a bag of 100 year old elemental mercury and assorted cleanup items to a household hazard waste disposal event. I hope everyone else has a normal day ahead of them!

Tomorrow I plan to ascend to a higher level of self-actualization and fulfillment.  He/she who is not him/herself is no one.

Kelley, you probably already know this, but mercury is the basis for the aphorism "Mad as a hatter." Milliners used to use mercury in some process of their craft, and it eventually caused health and emotional disturbance.

For some reason I thought that was arsenic. I was getting the hatters mixed up with the girls who worked in clothing factories that used arsenic as a dye. At any rate, I am glad to have that mercury down the road. It made my life miserable for almost two weeks. One of our library board members has been hauling junk out of the upstairs of the library so I can start the archive work I’ve been eager to do for seven years now. She presented me with a great find; an antique barometer. I assumed it was sealed like a thermometer but I wound up with a good sized mercury spill on one of the tables. We followed the CDC guidelines for cleaning it up but when the health department came last Tuesday to test the air we discovered that some had gotten away from us. Kevin and I spent 2 hours that evening, hunting it down and cleaning it up. Let me tell you, I was a nervous wreck until we got that resolved!

What did you do to hasten elimination of any residual mercury vapor?

Fortunately, that wing has a fire door and a lot of windows. I kept the door closed and the windows open, and by the time the guy came a week later to test the air we were at a very low level. We are closed in the middle of the week so that gave us over 24 hours to air things out once the clean up was finished.

That sounds fine.  Mercury vapor goes away quickly that way.
