50 years, wow.
the Let it Be album was released in May 1970, concert on the roof was January 30th 1969.

Get Back and Don't Let me Down was recorded January 28th 1969 and not released until April 11th 1969.

It never occurred to me before right now that the people on the various roofs and in the street had never heard either of those songs before.  How awesome is that?

Funny how the rooftop concert was important enough to be memorialized on the National News networks.  It's amazing how important the Beatles last public performance was even though fans couldn't really see them from the ground up.

I had a similar epiphany a number of years ago, blmeanie. It is a neat thing to ponder.

Yeah, The Beatles were playing songs on a roof in the middle of winter that nobody had heard before. The public would be able to buy two of the songs two and a half months later and the rest a year and three months later.

The Beatles never did anything like other groups, but even for them this was rather extreme.
