I couldn't find a video of The Fab Four or The Analogues doing Hold Me Tight, Kev.   :(

The Analogues play the albums from their post-live period. Although in concerts they play encores with some early Beatles material (A Hard Day's Night and I Call Your Name for instance).

At the end of the bridge in particular the second one, there is a bit of a gaff where Paul sings ....it feels right NOW and John and George sing.... it feels alright SO in the background vocals. I also really like the way the song slows down at the end it reminds me of a train coming to a stop....

Well-spotted.

But in another way it's typically Beatles. They probably noticed it and decided to keep it in. It gives the song a more live feel.

I also agree about the train slowing down at the end of the song.

Does anyone reckon it has a similar feel to No Reply?  The latter of course is a very fine song but the overall sound of it seems like an early recording    I only noticed this the other when I heard HMT on Beatles Radio

Nice to see this song getting the recognition it deserves.

I’ve always been afraid to say that I like this song but I guess it’s okay now: I like this song! It has kind of a garage band vibe.

They often made these vocal slip-ups in the early years, especially John & Paul singing different words/lines to each other  - for example, I'll Get You: "Well there's gonna be a time, when I'm gonna (change your mind/make you mine)" or on What You're Doing when Paul sings "You" whilst John sings "I"..... all of which used to puzzle me (such glaring errors, why not do a re-take?) although now, like zipp, I feel it lends a quasi-live and rather warm spontaneity to these numbers - (so they really were human after all then!).

There is a chuggalong, breathy optimism to "Hold Me Tight".... a sort of fumbling, adolescent nervous excitement set to music... by no means the weakest cut on "With The Beatles", but down there in the bottom half for me. what I'd call an "eager puppy" of a track. Plenty of bounce and energy but no real direction.

I've always been convinced that the vocal slip up on What You're Doing was an intentional experiment. But they only do it once so maybe it wasn't intentional after all.

There again it was so obvious that they could have fixed it if they'd wanted.

Your description of Hold Me Tight is spot on.
