I haven't been listening to much Beatles lately. I've been preoccupied with Joan Baez, my bizarre mixes, and believe it or not, Lesley Gore.

But MMT has been spinned a couple of times this week.

Did you see her perform for the people that have been camped out at Bush's place? Pretty good. She's got a great voice.

Yeah, it was awesome. I love her voice. I think she is the female singer whose voice is the most like mine, in terms of key.

Of course, mine is not as amazingly fantastical as hers, but that's a MINOR detail...

In my opinion, the thing is that Beatles For Sale has a great difference between the covers and the Lennon-McCartney songs. I think the covers are mostly weak: Honey Don't, Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby, Words Of Love, Mr Moonlight, Rock & Roll Music. The Lennon-McCartney compositions on the other hand are magnificent: Spoil The Party, No Reply, I'm A Loser. Great stuff.

Its wierd that as late as '66, when they were dropping acid and recording Tommorrow N K that they were going on stage and performing songs like Twist and Shout and RockIn' Roll Music and Roll Over Beethoven. How old were those songs by then, 10 years old? And in a style that was pretty naff by '66.
