Best Album Closer
« on: October 27, 2004, 07:58:46 PM »

The Beatles sure did have a lot of great closers! But which one sticks out as the best one?

I pick the Golden Slumbers suite.  "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." is my senior quote for this year.  Everyone thinks it's beautiful, but only a few knew it was from the Beatles :)

Note: The reason it's the Golden Slumbers suite and not Her Majesty is because Her Majesty was just tacked on and not supposed to close the album, not to mention no one would vote for that  :P.

out of those "A Day In The Life" is my favorite.

I'll Be Back and The End/Her Majesty are good ones too ;)

I'm going with 'Tomorrow Never Knows'. What a way to conclude the greatest album ever.

For a moment I couldn't decide between A day in the life and Tomorrow never knows. Both are extraordinary album closers, but in the end I've decided for Tomorrow never knows, beacuse I think it's one of the bests LENNON songs ever, so psychedelic, and so well everything!!!

God, this was really difficult - it was a 3-way tie between Twist And Shout, Tomorrow Never Knows and A Day In The Life!!!! You made me choose Twist And Shout... it's like choosing your favourite child!!!! :(

One of my favorites is the All You Need is Love end to the Us MMT release.  Twist and Shout. get back, Golden Slumbers/Carry that Weight/The End and A Day in the Life are all awesome too  The onluy album closer I really hate is Run for Your life.  I choose Day in the ife though

Get Back reprise? I never heard of that one before. Anyway I picked A Day In The Life, the very last bit (with the pianos) is the best!

You can look at this two ways...the best song that was an album closer, or the song that closed the album the best.

Looking at it form the second point of view... I think can't choose between "Twist and Shout" and "A Day in the Life".  When you look at these songs in the context of the albums they were on, they are as close to perfect.

"Please please me" was virtually a live performance and the energy captured by "Twist and Shout" completes it perfectly. And as for "A Day in the Life"...that piano chord and its build up. Need I say more?

I used to think "Her Majesty" spoiled the end to what was the last Beatles album recorded.  But now I think that the Beatles would probably have tacked on "her Majesty anyway" just to thwart the perfectness of it.  Does that make sense?

Tough one, but I chose Get Back. I really like that song.

A Day In The Life, Tomorrow Never Knows and All You Need Is Love came close.
