It's a great little song and I'm surprised it wasn't worked on a bit more - maybe he planned to.

Do you know when the recording dates from because to me it sounds like it's from the Dakota era. You're right PC, very commercial.

I think he enjoyed the trip to India but was disillusioned with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Bear.

Your suspicions are correct, End. The song is not from 1968, but rather post 1975.

Wasted? Wasted??. Certainly not wasted creatively: think of all the songs that were written at that time. One hestitates to use the word "inspired", but that's exactly what John was in India ...

When you enjoy wasting, it's not wasted. John said something like that.

The version I've heard contains some sitar 'samples'at the start and that bloody annoying drum-beat machine he used on Grow Old With Me. I think it's from 1978 or thereabouts.

Isn't it one of the unused demos thats on the lennon broadway show?

It is, together with a song called "I Don't Want To Lose You". I also found out that India was written in the late 1970's.

Why would it have made the Sessions album if it had been done in Beatle years? Several good (well, goodish) songs didn't make Sessions: Goodbye, 12-Bar Original, Suzy Parker, Watching Rainbows, Rishikesh Song, ...
