There is something wrong in the new, as the Star Club was still not open by mid/end 1961...

Basically, and old Galician musician (=I have heard the story before) said that he woth his band met The Betales in Hamburg at those days. One day, Ringo wnt to the Club they were playing (=Café Menke) and wnated to play with them some numbers. But they politely said no, because they had seen Ringo playing before at Star Club and they thought that he hit the skins very hard... practically destroying the drumheads.

But there is something wrong at this story: the Top Ten didn't exist in 1961.

The story I had heard years ago, referred to Pete Best and not Ringo. And the datation was 1961 and not 1962. Even the Galician musician said that Lennon used to go to them to get some milk and became very friends with the Galician musicians. He met them years after in Sweden (=being The Baetles already known worldwide), and Lennon let them get into their stage rooms. He even signed a copy of 'She Loves You' sheet music, bought there, and that old Galician musician still owns...

IMHO, the journalist has made some mistakes trying to write the 'real' story...

I hope it helps...

It's a widely spread misunderstanding that The Beatles played in The Star Club in Hamburg and in the Star Club alone. You are right: The Star Club did not open its doors before 1962.

If one of you could tell me when and how it burnt down it would be interesting...

The club closed on 31 December 1969 and the building it occupied was destroyed by a fire in 1987. How? Come in, Dirk.
