I think John came close with Whatever Gets You Through The Night - can't stand that track!

I agree.

I hate the ooga-ooga chucka-chucka sound of the finished track.  Boogie Machine.  "What You Got" does the same kind of thing.

And that screech-bo sax.  Ugh!

That's disco? I never thought of that. I guess he was trying to stay current. Disco spread its evil in many places. It even got the Rolling Stones didn't it?

Didn't Ringo do a disco album, 'Bad Boy' or something like that?

Yeah, I suppose it was a bit disco - I think it was produced by Vinnie Poncia wasn't it? He was quite a big name in disco at one point!

George said in a few interviews that  he felt The Beatles music would have sounded like ELO's, of course we all know how close George and Jeff Lynne were music and this was during the time of the "Wllbury's" and Lynne produced Harrison solo albums.

If the Beatles had continued, it may have been in the White Album style with Paul dominant.  Look at how prolific he was in his solo career.  I think John was accurate in telling dejected fans to string together their solo efforts if they wanted to hear another Beatles album.  Seventies Beatles would have been soloists whether together or not.

But if they had resolved their differences, I think we would have heard some excellent music.  It hurts to think of all the great music they could have produced together but never did.  I wonder how their solo stuff would have sounded if they all played together on it.  I think it would have been greatly enchanced if not by other musical input or ideas but by the rich alchemy they had together.

Could the Beatles have both stayed together and released occasional solo albums as well?

How often would they have recorded?

I've always wished we had at least one more solid working-together album out of them.  I think even something subpar was imbued with a special quality via the Beatles indefinable magic.  Their albums would have been cherished regardless of what they did.

The band would have been making innovative and beautiful music which went away the day they broke up.

Well, Beatles were morphing mutants(in a good way),
so I'm sure they'll be good around the 70s too.
McCartney and Lennon partnership sounds good too..
ahh.this topic is making me meloncholy.  :(

What would have been really sick would have been the television special in 1988 where they performed "Sgt Pepper" in Vegas (ala Elvis Comeback Special): "It was twenty years ago today . . ."   And they would have had dancers, acrobats and a carnival-like atmosphere . . . .

Uh oh, I guess Cirque du Soleil is really doing this.  :o

(Actually read good things about the Cirque show.)
