3) I really hate Jesse McCartney, and he obviously kept his last name so people would compare them and he obviously wrote a song with that title so people would compare it.
"How Do You Sleep?" It's funny how life imitates art. John's song "How Do You Sleep?", which was suppose to be a musical response to Paul about his song, "Too Many People", but John said, later, was written about himself.
Hardly his fault he was born with the name McCartney. Why should he change it?
Did he say that? I hope it was just John's usual "confusion" regarding the truth, and not some cynical attempt to rewrite history in order to flog a few more copies of his coffee-table-music-for-mums-and-dads magnus horribilus Double Fantasy, and knew accusing Macca of making muzak probably wasn't that koshher. These crazy Beatles - don't know whether they're coming or going half the time.
Even Paul McCartney's brother changed his name to avoid comparisons and so as to get credit for his own work.As to whether Jesse McCartney should change his name, that is a good debate. I think most of his target audience are barely aware of the Beatles, let alone Paul McCartney.
I don't think there's a debate there at all. What's to debate? It's his birth name, and he's not related. Mike McCartney is related, and he didn't want to ride on the coattails of his brother. That's admirable, but he didn't have to do it.Should Angus Young have changed his name all those years ago because there was already a Young (Neil) on the circuit? Kanye West (Leslie West/Mountain)? There's a George McCartney who plays football for West Ham, maybe he should change his name to McGear?
Neither was I. Theres no debate, it was his name. I just said it because I couldn't think of a 3rd reason why I hated him that fast. Didn't mean to start an arguement.
