It is special that Russia claims areas that do not belong to them at all. Anyway, if Russia can do that, so can we. We just did an illegal vote last night and as of today Belgium will annex Russia.

Find this all so depressing.
I recently watched the new All Quiet On The Western Front film which depicts very well the futility and absolute stupidity of war.
And here we are with Putin doing it all over again and threatening nuclear. I read that 500 or so Russian conscripts were killed the other day. All those lives ruined, all those parents, their lives wrecked. All those apartment blocks (people's homes) smashed to bits..
Putin is making Russia the enemy of the world and ruining the economy. Thousands upon thousands of lives ruined, forever.

Well, it's Christmas and no one in Europe is eating their pets or using hamsters to generate electricity.  This is an example scare tactic propaganda which we've seen before throughout the 20th and 21st Century.

Putin is destroying his country.  As I said last month, history is repeating itself.

You frightened me, - because I get my salary in rubles and buy dollars, - and I checked the exchange rates.
Nothing extraordinary. The ruble is very volatile.
A year ago (before the war) one dollar cost 79 rubles, in June it cost 51 rubles, now 68.
I hope the ruble won't get cheaper in January.

I partly agree on thread title. In global context the title is right (also due to the economic component), but in local one it is false (indeed Russia invaded Ukraine).
So it depends how you look at this war.
You can change the title, don't you? I'm not sure.
