I think we need a thread dedicated entirely to this amazing song. What production!

Well, there may be better songs out there, but this song is just so fun and catchy! Its amazingly tight look at the era in which it was recorded, as well.

Fantastic production, yep,... but for me the best of Be My Baby it's the whole arrengement: the first two seconds are soooo recognazible!... and without any chord, it's made only by the persusion!
The guys have lots of examples of easy recognazible intros in their career but this one is at least as known as any of them, ... possible more.

Phil was:
one of the best producers of pop history (I don't like him very much but it's a fact)
he was a very successful composer (he usually composed the songs he produced and he'd got several hits)
he was a musician too (before he was a producer he was in a band: a foursome called The Sleepwalkers -he played guitar and piano ang mad harmonies with them- and then in a trio called The Teddy Bears and with them he composed his first hit: To Know Him Is To Love Him)
and he was very innovative (it's a big lie that the guys were the first ones in using an orchestra for a pop song -A Day In The Life- because it was Phil, precisaly for Be My Baby),
but for me he was a better arrenger than even a producer.

P.S. He was an actor too (Easy Rider - 1969)  :P

This is one example of why the music today will never be as good as in the 60s!

The music today seems it's never ever going to be as good as ... even in the 80s!

Well it's all broken into so many different styles that there is no clear direction anymore! All you have to do is pick up a billboard magazine and see all the different charts! Back in the 60s it was an unveiling when the Stones or Beatles brought out a song! A lot of fanfare ensued! There were one hit wonder groups that defined their career with that one song!

Brian Wilson has always, from the day it came out until this day, said that "Be My Baby" is his all-time favorite song.

Several of his songs, especially "Don't Worry Baby" were heavily inspired by this song.

Don't Worry Baby could be my favourite Beach Boys song.

That's my favorite Beach Boys song.

Same here! Used to be one of my favourite 5.00am come-down songs. Love that guitar solo. Dang-dang, dang-dang.

Yep, that stacatto guitar arrangement fits quite well with the simplicity (lyricaly and musicaly) of the whole song. Less is more, once again.
