He's been wrong before.  So has Mark Lewisohn and Ian MacDonald.  The Dream Sequence is Paul's contribution to the song.  It's Paul's dream.  And it's Paul's ahhhs, just like in Lovely Rita but with a bit of John and George mixed in prior to John resuming his lead vocal in his part of the song.

Paul takes a breath before he starts his ahhh

Where were "John's ahhhs" in this prior take where Paul flubbed his line singing "and everybody spoke and I went into a dream....oh sh*t!"

There were no ahhhs because Paul flubbed his line and ended his vocal.  He would dub his Dream Sequence correctly later on.

Those of us who heard the MONO LP in 1967 knew then that it was Paul.  Fifty-two years of STEREO mixes, Capitol releases, remasters and box sets have clouded the issue.

Have a listen to a Parlophone MONO first pressing LP to hear how Sgt. Pepper's was meant to be heard.  You'll find the difference astounding.

Those of us who heard the MONO LP in 1967 knew then that it was Paul.

Not true. Those who bought the mono album in '67 thought for years and years that it was John.

With the advent of bootlegs, official outtakes, isolated vocals and internet some now believe it's Paul.

But not everyone.
