Pick ONE Song
« on: May 01, 2008, 02:00:47 AM »

Okay, if you could only save one Beatle song from extinction, what would you choose? What is the ONE song you just could not live without? I'm interested to see what you all would choose and why. Different songs mean different things to us so even if it isn't their greatest song you may choose it because it holds a special meaning for you. Or not! Anyway, I would have to go with: Let It Be. This song just gets me every time I hear it. I couldn't live without hearing it! So, which do you all choose to save?

(Oh, and that's the Let It Be version from the ALBUM! I can't listen to any other version without some feeling of aggravation.)

Are we saving just one song as an example of what the band was about or is this our favorite song Sandra?

Just the one song that you'd get to save if all other Beatles songs were obliterated. Kind of like Sophie's Choice! But I DO like  your idea about the one song that represents what the band was about. That would be a good thread too. As long as people explained their answers. I'd have a hard time on that one though! I'd have to really think about it. Which is good really.

"Come Together," because it's a song I could bellow from a rooftop just to see who gets it.

'I Saw Her Standing There'. Probably my most played Beatles song, and an absolute stonker! Close run thing with 'Some Other Guy' live at The Cavern.

For the band: A Day In The Life. I think it captures their innovative, ground-breaking spirit and it's a beautiful song as well.

For me: Here Comes the Sun. I wouldn't want to do without this song sprinkling such happy sunshine into my heart. :)

you know, not to be a downer on your question but I don't think I could pick just one song. Literally I couldn't. This is because I can't pick one song that sums up what they are, one song that explains something in my life, one song that makes me happy when I hear it, one song that I would never get tired of, because there is no one song for me. The Beatles are my song!
but since you did ask so nicely I would have to say...Help!

Do you enjoy seeing us suffer over questions like this Sandra? ;)

This is such a difficult question to answer. My favorite song is Within You or Without You, and I can not survive without that song. On the other hand my most listened to song is without a doubt I'm Only Sleeping. Musically there are so many. Feel good songs from like '64 and '65 would be a good decision. What a hard decision to make. I guess when it came down to it, I'd have to pick a George song.
