Rick Beato
« on: December 19, 2021, 11:42:18 PM »

I was thinking about Normandie's interest in learning more about music and I think Rick's "What makes this song great" series of video's is a good place to start..
I love watching these, he's done quite a few now.

He even played the guitar solo in Steely Dan's "Kid Charlamagne"  ;D

Anyway here's one he did about the best group ever. (Hope Rick sends me some commission)  ;D

a few weeks ago I provided a link to Bento's interview with Sting.  His what makes this song great features are wonderful.  I enjoy all his videos, even though many are technically way over my head.  Still interesting.  He is so talented too, on many instruments as well as producing obviously

Nim - many comments on the sting interview video are begging he go for interviewing McCartney.  Whether Paul ever would, who knows.  Beato knows his stuff and might get more out of Paul than the "couldn't get much worse" stories.  While Beato is a fanboy, he used it to his advantage in the Sting interview, got to be "golly gee" while asking great questions.

If you watch the video above that Nim pasted in, good example of Rick Beato and his capabilities/skills.  Fun to watch-even as a non-musician

McCartney would be Fab meanie  icon_good

I like Rick, he wasnt employed by a tv network, he did all this youtube channel himself with his own money. He's built up like a million followers. He's a great musician and a great interviewer. I think musicians respect that, rather than being interviewed by a journalist.

Here's another good one with, imo the worlds greatest acoustic guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, Ricks face at 9:24 is like "how the hell did he do that"  ha2ha

Lots of interesting stuff (well, people) to follow up on. I'm still back on Billy Preston.  :)

saw that one yesterday, fun to watch them play those riffs.  Could easily have a different top 10, as he said, so many to choose from

Those were so beautiful. It was so fascinating to me to watch the songs actually (i.e., physically) being played. Looks terribly complicated! I had to pause it at one point to find out what a capo is.

Thanks so much for sharing that. I'm going to bookmark that site. I meant to do that months ago.

Rick is a massive Beatle fan.

It's nice to see the young generation taking an interest in The Beatles. This young lady not only plays her favorite riffs but also teaches the viewer how to play them...

She wasn't sure who played the guitar riffs on Paperback Writer and on what guitar.  We've known for a while that it was Paul on his Casino...

Paul's tremolo arm is upside down. He's either in Australia or it's fake Paul.  ha2ha
