Its no secret I like my Beatles best when they rock out. and Revolver has significantly more rockn' numbers than Pepper.

Apples and Chainsaws. Each album was so different, it's hard to compare.

That's a good point to make. I mean, you wouldn't compare say, The Who Sing My Generation and Tommy, would you?

You'd have trouble picking between A Flock of Seagulls and Culture Club.

Revolver is the Beatles true psychedelic masterpiece more so than the highly overrated Sgt. Pepper by a long shot.  Solid tracks that are superior to most of the ones on SPLHCB especially the Lennon gem Tomorrow Never Knows.

I've never been Peppers biggest fan but I listened to the mono vinyl last night and wow - it sounds so much better. Much richer and denser than crappy remastered cd's.
I remember a quote from Elton John, who's a movie buff but never watches them on dvd or video - only on a large screen because that was the medium the artist intended. I feel the same now and am going to try and never listen to Beatles music on anything but vinyl. Not just the sound but the two sides make all that much more sense. WYWY sounds so much better to me as an opener, rather than just sitting in the middle of a bunch of songs.

That's exactly the reason for why I didn't buy any Beatles stuff on CD. It's all remastered and sound cr......not too good to my ears.

Tough call. I think that 'Revolver' is the better of the two, probably their best, though 'Sgt. Pepper' flows better. So what do you do? I couldn't compare any two albums that they released. They were all brilliant in their own ways for the time that they were recorded/released. Some people think 'Let It Be/Get Back' was a 'cardboard epitaph' as Rolling Stone called it, and I love that album and playing my guitar along with it.

I'd say..Sgt. Pepper, mostly because,
it's one of few albums where I can listen without skipping the tracks,
because the songs are just..awesome
but. Revolver is also very great,
my username, metaphysical came from revolver,
because revolver is a metaphysical album. . .

Sgt. Pepper is so overrated as a classic rock album, it's sick & with only a few great tracks.  Revolver is the Beatles true psychedelic masterpiece that defines them during the mid 60's in all their glory.

What songs would you consider down right bad on the album Wayne and why do you consider Peppers to be so overrated? Is it because everybody has told you its overrated?

If you haven't heard all the praise for Pepper from critics & fans all these years tkitna, I feel sorry for you.  She's Leaving Home, Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite & When I'm 64 aren't that great, but are just good.

My god,,,,three songs that are only good, but not great. Surely it couldnt have been you that said Peppers only had a few great tracks. Now I see why you think its so overrated.

I really like Revolver. But I think Pepper is the best of them. I compare both albums as whole, not by judging individual songs. In that way Pepper is superior. Besides, the sound quality is better in Pepper. This is only my modest opinion.

I prefer to listen to "Revolver" more but I would still say "Sgt. Pepper's" is the best overall. I feel that it's a little more cohesive; I just like the songs on "Revolver" a little bit more. I would never say that "Pepper's" is overrated though, as it is definitely one of (if not THE) most influential albums of all time.

Sgt. Pepper had the better effects and quality I believe, so I'll give it to that one. I do enjoy Revolver though, It really was the first psychedelic album they made.
