The Biggest Poll
« on: March 28, 2009, 12:11:21 PM »

I was wondering the otherday how big The Beatles are ?
So this poll pits them against other great luminaries from music , literature ,films and that bloke they had a bit of controversy with in the 60's .
You have multiple choice on this poll (smile)

The Beatles, William Shakespeare, and "Star Wars" (but only parts 3, 4, and 5).

Grew up with all three, so I'm a bit biased, but they're great.

Strange choices. You missed out Ghandi, but put Stephen King in. :-/

It this how big in terms of fame? Or popularity? Or notoriety? Or all three?

Why strange Paul ?
The film choices are all big film franchies and all bar James Bond appear in the top 10 world grosses , Bond however with 22 films is still one of the biggest film franchies .
Madonna is the best selling female in music history and Michael Jackson , Elvis , Led Zeppelin are all massive  multi - million  sellers.
I put Shakespare in because he's the big daddy when it comes to literature in many peoples opinion , and it was a toss up between Stephen King and Agatha Christie as big selling writers .
Jesus is there because of the controversy with The Beatles .
And i did leave a OTHER space for difficult buggers like you lol
I was looking to see who people think are the biggest in terms of fame and popularity , and i suppose in Jackson's case it would be all three you listed , mind you many of the other's fit that bill also ?
I was just pondering who's the biggest and this was the list i came up with , other's would maybe come up with a different list .

I've changed  Stephen King to Agatha Christie , the reason been that with four Billion books sold, she  dumps big time on  Stephen King in terms of sales of books , he has sold around 350 million , not in the same league his he ?

I'm sure there are parts of the world where The Beatles are unheard of, and Jesus Christ isn't. So JC it is. Sorry, don't see the point of multiple choice unless you can attribute varying values to each vote.

The Beatles will win it anyway, as this is a Beatles forum.

Well you can attribute a value to your voting if you want .
Pesonally i'm getting back into James Bond , just read Casino Royale , not read any Ian Fleming before , it was quite a good read .
I hope the multiple choice throws up , points for discussion.

As long as there are some Beatles about and they continue promoting there new material and old The Beatles will be remembered, but will they stil be remembered once they are gone ? maybe for 25-50 but after that ? with no new material and maybe the occasional movie telling the story of there life i don't think they will be. I thin kreal music fans who look into the history of music will find them.

As long as there are priests, Jesus will be well known.
