I've read that Paul's 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass was returned to him a couple of months ago. It has been authenticated by Höfner as indeed his bass, still in its original case (lower left)...Paul must be ecstatic.
It's good that Hofner have authenticated it as fake Paul could never know if it was real.
