Buddy Holly
« on: October 26, 2014, 02:30:14 PM »

This  guy  has  got to be  a  kind of  ... precurser  ....  of  the  Beatles

with  songs  like........  What  to  Do

  and       Words  of  Love....

he  was  kind  of  writing  and  creating  Beatles  songs    long  before  the  Beatles    hit  the  air  waves.

He  must have been a big  inspiration    esp  for  Paul...  listening  under  the  bed sheets  in the  late  50s...

( maybe  on  a  crystal set  ?  )

So  sad  Buddy  did nt  live  long  enough  to meet  up  with  the  Beatles.

Mark Lewisohn says that John, Paul and George were a couple of hundred yards away from the venue when Buddy Holly played in Liverpool and the tickets were cheap. It's strange when they were such big fans they never saw him live.

They went to the Morgue Skiffle Club instead to watch The Texans, the Bluegenes and Sioux City Skiffle Group instead. Amazing, isn't it?

Nope. Plenty of tickets available and reasonable prices.

I think you might under-estimate how much folding a kid in Liverpool in the late 50s had!

On the initial comment, I think there's a case to make Buddy Holly the most important pop music artist of all time.

Who knows why though.  They probably had friends going to the smaller show and had some gals lined up or something on those lines.

Sorry, I meant to say 'over-estimate'!
