"Day Tripping" at the Abbey
« on: June 25, 2008, 09:48:47 PM »

I know...........I haven't been on here all day.  We, the family, Jeff, Greg and me took a little day trip up to Mt. Magazine about 120 miles from us.  Highest point in Arkansas at 2800 ft.  And Mt. Magazine is the highest mountain in the US between the Rockies in Colorado and the Smokies in east Tennesse.
Anyways................very nice trip.  We had a picnic lunch at the park on top of the mountain.  It was hazy today, so I didn't get good pictures.
But, on the way to Mt. Magazine, we stopped off on the way at Subiaco to visit Subiaco Abbey.  I've never been there and it's amazing!!!!!  Beautiful old buildings.....great archeticture.  I took several photos and will post them later.  I hope you enjoy.  Subiaco Abbey has the "monks"........."brothers" if you call them that and it's also a highly respected all-boys Catholic college-prep high school.  No, my little Greg is NOT going there for high school, but our brother in law........he's married to Jeff's sister...........has an uncle who is a monk there.  So we just had to stop by and visit "Brother Joe".  Great guy!!!!
I'll put the pictures up later...............

And a picture of Brother Joe's "vineyard".........the Brothers grow their own grapes and make the best homemade wine.
