Draw A Line Project
« on: September 26, 2004, 01:44:19 AM »

Does anyone here know about the Draw A Line Project? I've just been
sent this anonymous quote from a Japanese lady wanting more
information:

"Julia Lennon died on 15 July 1958 when she was hit by a car. She
had just been to visit John at Aunt Mimi's and it was as she crossed
the duel carriageway of Menlove Avenue, to catch a bus back to
Central Liverpool that she was struck by a car and killed instantly.
The driver of the car, an off-duty policeman. This was an event that
was to effect John greatly in later life and he penned several songs
in tribute to his mother: 'Julia', 'Mother' and 'My Mummy's Dead'.

DRAW A LINE is a campaign to have a permanent "Julia Lennon Memorial
Body Outline" painted on Menlove Avenue where she was so tragically
struck down."

I live in Liverpool and it sounds like a great idea to me - it will give the Magical Mystery Tour something more substantial to point out than the Supermarkets
that mark where something 'Beatly' once happened.

Please e-mail me stevemck@blueyonder.co.uk if you have any information

Oh good...

I was afraid it was a contest involving a lot of beer drinking and urination...

A body outline? That's just morbid. Why not a plaque or something less creepy.

I've just arrived in Liverpool from Slough (UK) to for the annual Mathew
Street (Beatles) Festival. The first Beatles site I always visit on my way
into Liverpool is John Lennon's home on Menlove Avenue. The Draw-A-Line project appears to be going ahead - I have pictures of planning applications and the artwork which is now oposite Lennon's home :o

I've just posted the pictures I've taken on the alt.binaries.beatles newsgroup - I don't have the technical skills to post the pics here. Can anyone import them?

If your in Liverpool right now, you should try hooking up with Al (The End) at The Grapes on Saturday night....He'll know how to get your info up to. He's administrator of the forums.

The whole body outlining thing is a bit ailing to me.

When I saw the thread name I thought was going to be about a charity Paul decided to help or something like that. Boy was I wrong.

I've heard that before, and just can't believe someone would even come up with such a maudlin idea. It was a tragedy and shouldn't be 'celebrated' as a Beatle place of interest. Where does it end? An outline of where John fell inside the Dakota? Maybe a nice statue of where Mark Douchebag Chapman was standing reading "Catcher in the Rye". Unf***ingbelievable. How disrespectful to immortalize someone like that. Why not go to her final resting place at a cemetery if you're even going to go that far. Sick.
