The Beatles is my very favourite band, but I'm also a big fan of the Who, Jefferson Airplane, the Byrds, the Zombies, the Kinks, the Yardbirds, and Love.

Yes, Stevie! I like The Stones and Oasis too! And I am crazy about Queen! I like Queen+Paul Rodgers as well.
Of the oldies I also like Deep Purple and then Led Zep.
Of the newbies I like, as I`ve mentioned, OASIS most of all, and Stereophonics and then The Killers, Manic Street Preachers, Travis.

So it`s like that: The Beatles, Queen, Deep Purple, Oasis and the others mentioned.

I don't know how to narrow this down... I like a lot of music.

Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Blondie, The Cars, Evanescence (the first album, after that they went downhill), The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, No Doubt, Pat Benetar, Alexisonfire, Our Lady Peace, Thornley, Queen, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Genesis, Owen, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Coldplay, Incubus, Linkin Park, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sam Roberts, Tragically Hip...

I think it depends on how you listen to it... If you listen to it as the new album by the band that made "Appetite For Destruction" and the two "Use Your Illusion" albums... Then it sucks. Badly. If you listen to it as an album by Axl's new band... It's reasonable.

hi Jane. no, I didn't listen to it. I heard all the bad press and I only like the original Gunners anyway. It's funny for me to hear their stuff on CD. It sounds so different to their heyday, when i would hear it on the radio or cassette. Watching their stuff on Youtube brings back so many good memories. those guys rocked! cheers

I think 'Chinese Democracy' was a huge failure. For an album that took 20 years to put out,,,,its already been forgotten.

This is a guilty pleasure of mine but I really really like McFly. I see something of the early Beatles in them - great uplifting guitar pop and (apart from the moody bass player) very endearing personalities. I saw them live at Proms In The Park and they were excellent.

i'm not too sure about the boyband thing though. They play instruments and write their own (rather good in my opinion) material. I've not seen any dodgy dance moves or any pushing of the "angry one", "cute one" "thoughtful one" images (actually, wasn't that started by The Beatles? I agree they are aimed straight at the tennybopper market, but weren't the mania era Beatles?

I could go deep on the theories but once you have seen it done better, years previously it's hard to dig. Probably the unsigned muso in me speaking somewhere in all that aswell! I prefer rougher round the edges. lol

I think I find their lack of pretension a nice change from the normally self-conscious world of "serious" music.

Other bands I like: The Ronettes, Jefferson Airplane, No Doubt, ABBA, The Pipettes, The Beach Boys, The Clash, Simon and Garfunkel. And I'd be lying if I sadi i didn't love Aqua. There you go Kevin, an even guiltier pleasure than your own.

To be honest I listen to way more solo artists than I do bands. I don't know why that is.

20 years? Oh, no! It took only 14 years to give birth to! If he had tinkered with the album for 6 more years it would have been much better. But Axl wanted to be real quick and not to make his fans wait, you know!
