The lyrics are a HUGE part of the song.

Yeah, A Day In Life is a big part of the song, and has great lyrics...but I wouldnt say its johns best songwriting, its one of his best, but not THE best......it doesnt mean I dont like it, its one of my favorite Beatles songs along with Strawberry Fields

Well, c'mon that's not true.  They may have not yet developed into it.  Those who like the early poppy stuff have to eventually get into the more adult stuff.  Or maybe they never will.  That doesn't mean they're not fans.

Well, they might not.  That's kind of the thing about the Beatles, they made so much good music in so many various categories that that is why so many people liked them, or a piece of them anyway, from grannies to heads.

I love "A Day In The Life" and it is one of the greatest songs ever but I think "In My Life" is actually the greatest song ever I just love the song the music, the melody and lyrics are fantastic and it is definatly Lennon and The Beatles at their best.  On a little side note a local radio station played "A Day In The Life" the other day which is rare but they cut off the end to go to a commercial and boy was I mad.  I mean I can't stand it when dumb radio stations cut songs for time especially when the song isn't really that long in the first place.
