I just think Robbie has done some good songs in the past, not with

Yes Mr Kite ive got Robbie's first 2 albums , i thought he was ok early on , but i find his vocals very thin which makes him mediocre in my opinion , he's just an OK popstar like Madonna who i also think as a thin voice and i have 3 of her albums , i can listen to both but i would'nt say im a big fan .

I've always thought Oasis hugely mediocre. Their songs just sound like riffs from other peoples (and some of them are). Noel's OK, but Liam is total *osser, in my opinion. Manic Street Preachers, I could never get my head around. I think they have 4 or 5 songs that I like, but the rest is so lacking in any kind of melody and structure. Sugarbabes, Keane, Maroon 5. Now you've got me started!!

Ha! I like most of those. I really liked Sugarbabes "Push The Button." Maybe The Manics are a bit over reliant on the Big Chorus Idea, but I can suffer them.
I'm more put out by novelty sounding acts - Mika and Hoosiers especially, with their high vocals and tricky-dicky melodies. I don't listen to a lot of radio these days though, so I'm no expert.

There's no problem with making good pop music. It serves a purpose, because not everything has to be Bob Dylan. Baby One More Time is a well crafted pop song (personally, I can't listen to it because her voice annoys me). The problem is when these singers start to think that they are actually on the level of real musicians. I about puked when I heard Britney's cover of Satisfaction!

I adgree with both you there. Deff mediocre althoug I appreciate Keanes melody trick.

In Australia Silverchair are pretty much the biggest Australian band going around, I know they were quite successful with their album Frogstomp in the US but their success over there has waned. It is a shame that not all great bands will be recognised world wide but as long as I can hear some of the great bands in Australia it doesnt bother me if they make it big anywhere else
