I like this song. A bit country-like i think. Nice harmoning too.

Anne Murray released a version of the song in 1974. It was a Top 10 hit in US.

A bit of a filler this one. But good quality filler. It's got a nice melody and vibe. It's interesting why the tempo slowed down so noticeably on this one. It wasn't Ringo's habit to muck up his tempos. I wonder if the languid style of the verse lulled him to relax a bit much.

I should have updated my views on this after seeing Paul do it in concert a year or so ago. I pay much more attention to it now and appreciate it a lot more after hearing his live version. Especially the middle 8.

I like how he did it the first time he ever sang it live on tour since it was recorded...

I'm sure he performed it for you the way he did for us at MetLife Stadium in August 2016...

I like that arrangement too.

Yep. That’s how he did it. Came over really well. It’s one Beatles track where the recording maybe wasn’t the best. Mainly the slowing tempo.

Interesting photo Baz, I dont think it shows her to be as beautiful as I once thought. She looks very much like the girl next door.
Paul was a social climber in those days and she was definitely not working class like him. I wonder what she did to turn him off her so much, enough to make him write songs criticising her.
Maybe, time after time she refused to even listen.
He thought he knew her, what did he know ?

She was pursuing a career in acting, Kev.  At times, their schedules conflicted.  I'm sure that was frustrating for them both.  But we'll never know the full details as both have kept quiet about their relationship for 50 years.  I commend them both for that.  To me it means that their love for each other lingers in special places in their hearts.

As much as he was critical of her in some of his songs, he also expressed his love for her in some of the most beautiful songs ever written.  She was his muse, alright, in the 1960s.

I find "the girl next door" look most appealing.  It tends to leave much to the imagination...
