Then I saw the lyrics in print, but I didn't know what an enigma was, so I thought it said, "Life is one long enema my friend"!

So, you're telling me it isn't?  ;)

In Lend Me Your Comb, John sings: I got to go past, my hair is a mess.
I always thought it was: I gotta confess, my hair is a mess.
Which is close to the truth, actually.  ;D

The real lyric: Theres a fog upon L.A.

I hear: Theres a frog upon a lake

makes perfect sense

I thought he WAS singing 'There's a fog upon a lake'. Sounds more mysterious to me, in line with the song.

Well, it is about the Blue Jay Way in Los Angeles, isn't it?

I don't know if this is going back to being sarcastic or anything, but if you read my post again, you'll see that I was just referring to my thinking that it says 'lake'. And that I think it sounds better to me that way. That's all.

I was referring to your remark that 'lake' would be more in line with the song... Never mind.

OK. Fair enough, I jumped to a conclusion. But it's all in the context of stuff that's gone funny over the last 18 months I've been here on and off. Apology is not below me, so - sorry.  :)

come together -

hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease

ACTUALLY

hold you in his arms yeah you can feel his disease

Isn't it "hold you in his armchair"? I thought the "arms yeah" was something someone misheard (as i read it somewhere)

I always heard in "Act Naturally' Ringo says "Bending down apalling bended knee" instaed of "begging down upon his bended knee"

Also I always heard in We Can Work it Out "life is very sharp" instead of short"

Haha, misheard lyrics are always a funny subject!  ;D
...but I don't actually have any particularly funny ones.
In "It's Only Love", I thought John said "haven't I the right to make it happen", when he actually said "to make it up, girl".
Then in "Things We Said Today", I heard "love to hear you say that love is blind" rather than "love is luck", partially coz I thought that this line was meant to rhyme with "me I'm just the lucky kind"...

But the funnier one was when I misheard George in Something as saying:
"you're asking me where my love grows" instead of will my love grow". Hehe, where my love grows... in the garden, perhaps?  ;D

I gotta go listen to Things We Said Today one more time because since I bought the album over 40 years ago I hear "Love to hear you say that love is love." On I hold your hand I hear "I Get High" every time I listen to it.

Help

Actual: Help! I need somebody.

Heard as: Help! I need you-- yeah, you, the one in the second row, with the teeth and the hair. Yeah, baby YOU. Come on up here and let's get it oooooooon!

I will only add that I believe many girls heard this lyric in this exact same way.   ;) ;D

In I Am The Walrus, does anybody hear:

"Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun.
If the sun don't come, you get a tan
From standing in the English rain."?  ??)

Yeah that's what I hear is standing in the English rain

Yes, if we're talking about the early take included on the Anthology 2 CD 2 ... there is very clear, I agree!

Hehehe, good one Harihead!  ;D

Oh yeah, I just remembered another mishearing on my part:
In "One After 909", I heard "Grandma said, you've got the wrong location" instead of "railman said..."  ;D
