I wonder if the novelty of doing this will wear off pretty quickly.

That was my exact same thought, especially after I came across the Freddie Mercury and Joe Strummer clips. It does seem rather fun, but I personally hope it doesn't go too much farther.

Just another way AI is working, my son in Melbourne is right across AI, working in the digital world like he does. He submitted an entry (one of the 25 words or less) into a competition using AI and won concert tickets, he's just done another to win an 8k 85" tv :)

That's great! Congratulations to him.  :)

What is likely is the use of this by artists to tweak their vocals on records to keep them sounding young and at their peak. On one of the channels I saw they’d done a version of I Don’t Know off Paul’s Egypt Station with a vocal of Paul’s sounding like he did in the 80s rather than his older current voice. Now if Paul’s next album has him sounding like he did in 1966 people will cry foul. But current artists could theoretically keep their vocals on records sounding pristine for decades. Or at least reducing any sound of decline. I imagine the capabilities will increase to the extent they’ll be able to run their live vocals through software in real time to maintain the illusion in concert.

That part of your post got me thinking, Moogmodule, about what the difference is between AI tweaks and Auto-Tune. I don't know enough about either one to really understand how they differ. I'll have to do some searching.

Kathy, this is what Cher sounds like without Auto-Tune...

Auto tune as the name suggests concentrates on fixing pitch errors, although it also has other capabilities that can alter the sound of a voice as well (eg making a vocal sound lighter or heavier or adjusting the vibrato) . While not an expert on these new AI things, I gather they go well beyond that and can alter a voice input to sound like another sampled voice or seemingly synthesise a vocal from a sample that you give the software. The first one I posted where they had a Lennon vocal singing a verse to My Brave Face I suspect just keyed off the original Paul vocal but altered it to sound like John based on samples of John singing they gave the software.

Well, Kathy, Moog explained Auto-Tune pretty well.  Here's a good news spot on the subject...

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGiaAiIELME" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGiaAiIELME</a>

Tanya O'Rourke demonstrated Auto-Tune by singing The First Cut Is The Deepest and trying to sound like Sheryl Crow.  A little Auto-Tune made Tanya sound pretty good.

But some singers are just naturally gifted...

No Auto-Tune in those days.

Lest we forget, Cat Stevens wrote that song...

Very interesting observations especially towards the end.

Yeah that’s interesting. Especially the idea record companies will just create new AI artists.

Loved the reaction of the guy to the fake drake.  ha2ha

Ouch!

Very interesting; thank you for clarifying that.

Very interesting observations especially towards the end.

Love Rick Beato; I became aware of him through this forum. I subscribed to his YouTube channel, but YouTube never sends me notifications of new posts.

He speaks even faster than I do  ha2ha  I'm going to have to re-watch that and make sure I caught everything.

I'm sliding a bit off topic here, but some streaming channels need to develop their AI a bit further. I was just doing a search for documentaries on the Franklin Expedition on Tubi and got "Gilligan's Island" as the only result.   ha2ha

Can’t speak for everyone but the novelty has worn off for me already  4ac

The AI art too. Social media seemed to be filled with AI stuff. Pretty tedious already.

Understandably.  The Professor was intelligent and resourceful.

So tell me why he couldn't repair the S.S. Minnow which wasn't badly damaged.  There were lots of trees on that island to source wood.

Yeah, I liked Mary Ann but she was no match for Thalia Menninger on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis...

Her reaction to touching Milton Armitage's mohair sports jacket.   ;D

If I was on a tropical island with Maryann and Ginger I might not be in too much of a hurry to leave.
