nimrod:  Yeah, if anyone would know, he would.

I googled this and got nothing.

So it was a short clip - what was it?  Head in the oven and pulled out with a lot of shouting - end of story?

If Pete Best had succeeded, it would really have marred the Beatles legend.  A lot of fans would probably blame Pete's demise on the Beatles.  I don't know how this would have impacted their record sales or popularity but I think it would have definitely had an adverse effect.   People talk about Pete Best to this day but it would have been much more salient and poignant had he passed by his own hand.

The Beatles would have been asked about it repeatedly and maybe they've have responded apologetically.  How else could they have responded?

An interesting thought, Loco.  Yes, I believe it would have had an adverse effect.

If Pete Best had succeeded, it would really have marred the Beatles legend.

Do you really think so?  I think it would have added to the legend to be honest.  Thankfully it never happened though.

I tend to think that if Pete succeeded in killing himself, that it would have hung over the Beatles like a black shelf cloud.  I can just imagine people yelling "You killed him - you Beatles did!!"

You know how people are.  It's crazy but, yeah, I think that would have happened.

I think Mona Best accepted the firing because she once said there were no hard feelings for the Beatles.  Although Pete was her son, I think that Mona may have secretly realized that Pete wasn't a right fit for the Beatles.  Pete had said in his bio that he shared in their legacy and by rights he should have benefited from that legacy.  But how?  Without being their active and current drummer, he had no claim to a legacy with the Beatles.  I mean should they have sent him an honorary paycheck periodically because he was entitled to share in their legacy?
