Well, the first part was with an orchestra freely based of musicians from Ravi Shankar’s following… than, when George came up, he looked kinda shy, singing in front a such a huge audience… and I guess the crowd expected to ”rock” a little more.
Unexpectedly, he did not play much of his Beatles’ years stuff, rather concentrated on his new material (from
Dark Horse– not really one of his best albums to say the least). He did not play
While my Guitar, or
Taxman, for instance… only chose to make a rather bland rendition of
For You Blue.
In fact, Billy Preston totally stole the show with his very own hits :
That's The Way God Planned It, Nothing from Nothing and
Will It Go Round In Circles; he’s the one who instilled a little life in a more or less disappointed audience.
