"Mother Natures Son" vs "Child of Nature"
« on: September 13, 2007, 02:43:15 PM »

Both songs were up for the inclusion of "The White Album," but, for some reason, Paul's "Mother Nature's Son" won out.  John's "Child of Nature" lyrics were too close to Paul's song.

Child of Nature later reappeared on John Lennon's solo album, "Imagine," with new lyrics, called "Jealous Guy."

Personally, I liked John's song better (heard it on "The White Album Acoustic Demos"), it had a better rhythm.  How did Paul win that battle?  Did John simply relent and say, "okay, Paul," or did George Martin veto John's song in favor of Paul's?

Child Of Nature was incomplete, which is why it never appeared on The White Album. It was also tried during the Let It Be sessions.

To be honest, I don't even think Child Of Nature made it to the studio. I've just been looking through all my White Album boots and cannot find a single take. Can't find it on BootlegZone either. And it's not listed in Lewisohn.

I don't think so either, i only know of the Esher version they recorded &
i think they played it in the Twickanham sessions. It's a wondeful song and
the lyrics were very good.
Mother Nature's Son is a great one as well, hard choice to pick though. :-/

I think 'Mothers Natures Son' is a very underrated tune. Its always been a Beatle favorite of mine and I like it a lot better than 'Child Of Nature'.

Child of Nature I really like. Actually both songs, but if it comes to choice then I'll pick CON.
