IN 1962 it is reported that The Beatles once backed up Gene Vincent at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany. It seems that Gene's backup band at the time (The Sounds Incorporated) couldn't make the gig on time that night.

while touring england in 1960 on april 17 gene vincent and eddie cochran were invovled in an auto accident that killed eddie and injured gene.eddies girlfriend sharon sheeley was also involved.the accident was in eddies car in Chippenham in Wiltshire.it happened in the spring.
news story went like this....... Eddie Cochran dies in a hospital in Bath, England, from severe brain injuries sustained in a car crash near Chippenham, Wiltshire. Also injured in the crash are Cochran's girlfriend Sharon Sheeley and rocker Gene Vincent. (1960)

I really love the first two albums of Gene Vincent, pure Rock'n Roll. His guitarist, I think Simon Gallup was his name, inspired Jeff Beck to do an hole album with old Rock'n Roll songs. So it's no wonder, that John was heavily influenced by Gene, he was a rocker too, wasn't he ? Klaus

I don't know why, but when I saw that I thought -- "we are all the fifth Beatles!" but then I kinda went back and corrected myself ... "No, we're not all the fifth Beatles.
But we ALL are the Plastic Ono Band!"
Yay for irrelevent-to-the-topic-ness.

i am discovering other good musicians by researching ginos career.....eddie cochran was one.do you know he was over dubbing guitars on his records back in the 50's.
gene was also a target for the american ethic enforcers.who robbed us us freedom of choice by black balling black music.....alan freed did a radio show called moondog matinee.....he was targeted because he played that music.remember the payola scandal...mccarthyism at its peak.....
