Gen-Xers like to diss the hippies, but they forget that if it weren't for them, their asses would probably be drafted off to Iraq.
Yeah. Too bad their protesting wasn't so much about pulling ourselves out of a losing war than it was to save their own asses and wear the latest tye dye fashions. If they really cared about the dying soldiers, they wouldn't have treated them like crap when they came home all mangled and shell shocked. Ask most veterans from that war what they think about hippies. It's interesting.
I might be out of depth here, but weren't most hippies middleclass kids who dropped out, and most were draft exempt anyway (being college kids)? Poor people have nothing to drop out from.
