Hmm, should I start by reading the novels first?

The novels are well-written.  Their appeal has traditionally been to the male of the species.  But if you appreciate a good suspense novel and like spy versus spy interplay then you'll enjoy Ian Fleming's James Bond novels.  I never get tired of reading them.  I tend to read them when I'm on vacation.  They supplement the escape from my usual that the vacation provides.

The movies were somewhat faithful to the novels until Roger Moore took over as Bond.  He added his own spin on the character.  When Ian Fleming saw Dr. No he said that Sean Connery was close to the image he had in his mind's eye when he wrote his novels.  In several he describes Bond as looking a bit like Hoagy Carmichael.

Louis Armstrong sings "Mack the Knife"

Here he is again! I couldn't resist, he's absolutely magnificent!

Hi Applescruffy96! I hope that you're feeling better! I really LOVE LOUIS ARMSTRONG'S music! Here's his most popular song!

What a wonderful world - LOUIS ARMSTRONG.

You're welcome. Thanks for posting Bobby Darin's version  :)

Louis Armstrong did a really good job as well:

Louis Armstrong "Mack The Knife" 1970

One of the best voices of all time, I say!

Certainly his voice was unique.   ;)

But I'm still floored by that video AppleScruffy96 posted of Lotte Lenya singing Mack The Knife in 1962.  She honored her husband Kurt Weill's work after his death with tributes such as that one until her own death.

Their story is an interesting one and the meaning of The Threepenny Opera and Mackie Messer is often forgotten.

Speaking of the James Bond movies, here was a popular theme song from one of the James Bond movies!

I hadn't seen that video in several years.  It was part of a PBS show on them.
