But, given that that's not likely to happen—not least because I don't play the lottery—I'll have to hook up with more publishers, get a great laptop, and jet off to warmer climes. Given a decent WiFi connection, I can work literally anywhere.

I already tell my kids I had to walk five miles through snow to get to school after my shift down the coal mines.

They show a disappointing lack of faith in these stories.

Not Brisbane Kathy, now live on the Gold Coast. Your picture does look kinda bleak I must admit. I'm sure there are beautiful places in North Dakota though ?

Well, see? You can tell them "I braced 50-below (F) windchills one winter. My car doors froze shut, and I had to brave 65+ mph winds!"

And who knows; perhaps the younger generations might be impressed.

Oh! Now I must admit my geographical ignorance. I was under the impression that Australia's Gold Coast was a general region of which Brisbane was a part.

NoDak does have beautiful places, I assume. It's definitely not as dull as Nevada, the state in which we lived before ND. My girls and I decided the official state color of NV was "Dead."

I think one of the things that irritates me most about being "stuck" here is that I followed my ex here. . . Ugh

Anyway, I'm thinking of Sint Maartin for a permanent vacation:

Ew, yeah, noted that when I was there in 2014. No thanks! But my younger daughter and I stumbled across St. Martin of Tours literally on the beach. We went inside for a bit. Very soothing.

I had to share this photo of the church. It was such a beautiful memory on what was a rather hellacious trip.

If you weren't holding onto the fence, you wouldn't have to breathe those fumes for very long, Kev. You'd be blown into the water very quickly.

Well, Kathy, at least I got a picture of the eclipse of the moon in its penumbral phase...

A few hours later I saw the moon half-eclipsed for a few moments through a break in the clouds.

But I enjoyed seeing Joni Mitchell sing Both Sides Now and The Circle Game...
