I wish it would pour here but it just can't seem to make the commitment. We've gotten some but we need a good soaking rain. At least the Heritage Day events didn't get rained out.

We need rain, too. The past several days we've had Severe Thunderstorm Watches, none of which has panned out. Meteorologists suck (kidding! most of you know my history).

A massive thundersquall came through today and took out one of my 200 year old sugar maples! Amazingly it missed my new shed by feet and the cistern by less. No damage!

That's a massive tree! So glad no one or nothing was hurt.

Temps of 99 tomorrow, heat index of 103. Am I back in mid-Missouri?

I'm definitely getting as many errands done today as possible.

That must have been a heck of a squall! I'm glad nothing (other than the tree, of course) was damaged, Dave.

Yuck. I guess there's a heat bubble scenario about to happen. Someone told me the other day that it was going to be 120 here. I think he may have misunderstood! I hope.... :-\

Yikes! I hope you have AC, Kelley.

I remember back in 1997 the heat index the day before my elder daughter was born, the heat index was 117. She was 9 days overdue (labor was induced the next day). I was the hugest, hottest, crankiest person on the planet that day!   ha2ha

We have window units in all the rooms upstairs. I'm sure it won't get to 120 here but it'll be hot enough to be thankful for them.

Oh wow! Kelsie was born in August and it was hot but not that hot! And she was two weeks early. Were all your kids fashionably late?

I just heard that forecast this afternoon on the way home from work. Sounds like some very hot weather! Take care.

They didn't get the chance after Monica, my first! She was just over 9 lbs at birth. (Not because of gestational diabetes, though. (I think it was too many Dairy Queen caramel sundaes!)

When I had my second daughter, almost exactly 12 months later (their birthdays are August 18 and August 27), the doctor induced labor a week early, and because she too was chubby (8 lbs, 3 oz), and that was a long, hard labor, he also induced labor for my son about a week early (7 lbs, 14 oz).

It's kind of funny that all three were such chubby infants, because they are so slender now.  :)

I think that's what I would have experienced had Kyle gone full-term. There were some big newborns on both sides of the family. As it was he was 6 lbs 9 oz. He caught up quickly and is now 6'4 and built like a line backer. LOL Kelsie was almost 8 pounds but now is a tiny little thing. So they often do end up at the other end of the size spectrum!
