Grrrrr; my older daughter had to head home to Grand Forks early because a big winter storm is on the way. The same thing happened at Thanksgiving!    At least she got home safely.

There were a few left for the next day. I felt like I should have made more of everything but I was plum worn out by then!

Yes, she did; thank you! Tonight and tomorrow Grand Forks is supposed to get really slammed. I'm on the western edge of it so we're not supposed to get much here, just 6 to 8 inches.

I hope the weather is good for Kelsie's drive back. I've driven 81 south in the winter, and in heavy snow it is NOT fun. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

We don’t have any bushfires right near us in Canberra but the smoke from the coast fires was shocking on NYs EVE and the next two days. Canberra for a couple of days had the worst air quality in the world. Beating out Indian and Chinese cities. Not a contest I’d want to be winning.

Today is supposed to be very hot so dangers of fires starting  up here is very high.

Horrible down south, I feel very sorry for those people.

Yeah I’m on the Goldy too so no probs here   It’s like the bloody Apocalypse down south   I’m from Victoria originally but the fires aren’t affecting my hometown   But I had friends who were holidaying in Merimbula and had to evacuate pretty quickly

The Green political party are to blame for the buildup of tinder dry stuff in the forests as they don’t allow back burning in the winter months     The weather conditions this summer were always gonna create this tragedy although a lot of fires have been deliberately lit too   And others started by lightning

Just woken up and the sky is an eerie dark yellow/red tinge. Once again we’re topping the worlds worst air quality.

Thanks for checking in Kevin and Stevie. Moog, I'm so sorry to hear that your area is being affected by the fires. Seems there's a Rutles song for most any situation though, even dubious honors. I can't imagine how those in the thick of this hell on Earth are coping.

Thanks for all the best wishes. It’s very unpleasant in Canberra at the moment but we’re lucky not to have suffered directly like so many people. We can handle unpleasant air ok. Much better than fire threatening your home.
