That's precisely why I posted that video, Kathy.  The author researched the topic very well.  He was in error at the end when he wrote that Creoles and Indians have left New Orleans forever.  They're still there.

I didn't realize that. I love Louisiana, and New Orleans in particular. I went there with friends when I was in my 20s, and we had a blast: eating crawfish on the beach, getting hurricanes on Bourbon Street, coffee and beignets at Café du Monde, and—of course—Preservation Hall.  :)  I'd love to go back and dig deeper into that area's history, do a more serious sort of tour and learn more.

Yes, it's an area of our country rich in heritage.

As an aside, the saxophone middle eight you hear in James Crawford's recording has a noticeable change in tempo and can be considered an early example of Rock and Roll...

So as long as we're talking about Louisiana, it's time to hear some Stephen Foster...

Oh! Susanna

Well, I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee
And I'm bound for Louisiana
My own true love for to see

De Camptown Races  (Gwine to Run All Night)

Forget PC.  These are Songs of America!  And Stephen Foster is known as The Father of American Music.

Apparently Foster wrote "Beautiful Dreamer," too which I addressed in a different thread earlier.

Great songs.  :)

No, there were no records or radio in the 1850s but Stephen Foster's music was popular until the outbreak of The Civil War.  The minstrel shows and sales of his sheet music kept him popular.

One of my favorites is My Old Kentucky Home...

It's a tradition at The Kentucky Derby as the horses parade onto the track at Churchill Downs...

Guess what, Kathy?  Yes, Bing Crosby sang My Old Kentucky Home too...

Great! I always connect that song with Gone With the Wind, as Scarlett is making her way back to Tara.

I love this song and I'm sure Todd does too...

Take Me Home, Country Roads

That's "Mama" Cass Elliot singing harmony offstage.

But there's nothing like a song sung by its authors...

That's Bill and Taffy Danoff.  Taffy's harmony vocal is superb.

She sings harmony on the recorded version too...

Thats a great song.

Little story...
In my days of songwriting, I came up with this gem of a slow ballad, I thought i'd struck gold until I realized it was the same melody as Country Roads  roll:)

Simple basic chords strummed in just the right order, Kev.

Bill and Taffy Danoff wrote this one for John Denver too...

Bill and Taffy Danoff planned to sell Take Me Home, Country Roads to Johnny Cash for him to record.  When John Denver heard it, he loved it and helped them finish up the song.  It was a big hit for him in 1971.

John Denver sang Take Me Home, Country Roads with Johnny Cash on The Johnny Cash Show...

This was played at my daughters' dance recital several years ago. It's odd, but kind of catchy, I think:

I agree, great song! Apparently Charles Scott Boyer II wrote it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Boyer

And yeah, this is one of my favorite Clapton albums, along with Backless and No Reason to Cry. It (461 Ocean Boulevard) has always been my go-to choice when my stress level starts to climb.  ;)

I need to learn more about Yes, and about the Moody Blues.

My favourite track is Let It Grow

Regarding Yes Kathy, ignore the present line up, only 1 original member playing. IMO 70's Yes is best.
