Michael Jackson Memorial
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:06:09 PM »

I felt the forums needed a thread to discuss the musical genuis of Michael Jackson.
Discuss your favorite songs, albums, music videos, dance moves, or live performances.

There is so much to discuss!

Michael Jackson was a true musical legend and inspiration. Let's remember him in the best way possible, through his talent.

All the day I`ve been singing "Heal the world, make it better place, for you and for me and the entire human race..." You needn`t make a hero out of Michael, but he was a distinguished talent, at the same time a very tragic figure, caught in his own dreams and fantasies.
I am sure that there were people around him who took advantage of his wealth, of his gentle personality and ruined him. Look at some videos, the guys around him are all so fat and strong, he had a personal doctor, and what is the result? Broke, bankrupt, sick, dying. They were all like moscitoes sucking his blood.
Michael invented a new style in pop music, he invented moonwalk, he was distinct from everybody else, he was a permanent child. He needed help and there was nobody to help him, he was absolutely lonely, beaten in his own territory.
Certainly he will be an icon, he already is. Nobody is denying the fact that he was a freak and so on and so on, but why should we constantly speak about his negative sides and qualities, as if there are no positive ones. (like in the other thread about Michael, where again John is mentioned, and again and again to underline and drill in the fact that he was bad as if the others were saints)

Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury worked together. Did anyone ever know about this???? Freddie was also supposed to be on Thriller, but it never happened. HOW WEIRD! I never knew!

Freddie
Freddie Mercury talks about Michael Jackson

State of Shock. Don't know what I think. Don't like the Jagger version either really.

This song was stuck in my head all last week.

Anyway, my friend (a longtime MJ fan) actually got tickets to his memorial tomorrow at the Staples Center!  The odds of getting those tickets were so slim that I'm amazed and very excited for her.  (I would've signed up for the ticket lottery myself, but I have an exam tomorrow, ugh.)  I hope she has a great time.

Speaking of the Memorial...McCartney will NOT be performing at it as some have speculated on other forums.

Ah...  My friend got her tickets and realized what she got were not the Staples ones, but ones to the Nokia theater, where the audience can view the memorial from a big screen, I guess?  Not as good as the Staples but better than TV.

I remember seeing him introduce Wings just before they performed Mull of Kintyre on Wingspan.

Subscript says: Michael Jackson, George Harrison, & David 'Kid' Jensen participate in a Roundtable radio discussion in February 1979 -

Michael`s daughter is lovely.

That just broke my heart when I saw it!  A CHILD should not have to bury their parent, not to mention 3 children, I can only imagine what they've be going through.

I just finished watching the memorial service. I cried right when Mariah Carey started I'll Be There, and didn't stop until it was all over.
I am truly at a loss for words.

They're replaying bits of it on CNN. Strange but sad. People on the radio were complaining this morning about the city having to foot part of the bill for this because there are tons of police required and so on. All this while CA is WAAAYYY in debt. But oh well. I guess it's a nice idea. The fans seem sincere and quite touched. Which is nice. Still can't get over the fact that he's dead.

Okay, they really shouldn't have put his daughter in that situation. Why do that to her??? That was really unnecessary. Let the poor girl grieve privately.
