I've got a feeling - still riding the wave
« on: July 23, 2022, 10:37:51 AM »

I'm still riding the wave of Get Back, that documentary really changed some internal rankings of songs in my Beatles brain.

I've Got a Feeling - always enjoyed it but seeing Paul perform it live with John on the video screen "live" with him was awesome and then ran across this video

You musicians in here- do you know Mike Pachelli?   He does guitar teachings and lots of Beatles content

Check this out, as a non player I still enjoyed it and his style of teaching

Yes, blmeanie, I found Mike's channel last year and he's helped me perfect some of The Beatles songs I've been playing on guitar.  I like his style of instruction.  I'm happy that you find him enjoyable as well.

Prior to Mike Pachelli, I relied on a four DVD set by Rob Taylor for instruction.  He played the guitar parts on the same guitar models that John, Paul and George played when they recorded their songs.  Here's a sample from Beatles To A Tee Volume 3...

One of my favorite Beatles songs is And Your Bird Can Sing which is probably the first rock song to feature harmonizing lead guitars, in this case by George and Paul.  John played rhythm guitar.  Here's how Rob Taylor taught it...

By comparison, Mike Pachelli teaches it like this...

This young fellow, Matt, has also started a YouTube channel for Beatles guitar instruction.  He features detailed written notes on the pieces he teaches...

So, after hearing these artists perform And Your Bird Can Sing, let's once again hear how The Beatles recorded it in 1966...

Harmony lead guitar really makes a song sound full..  The Allman Brothers showed us this...

The ultimate in guitar instruction is when the artist himself teaches the piece.  Here are Dickey Betts and his son Duane showing us how to play the harmony and solo guitar parts for Jessica...

I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, blmeanie; I feel the same way.

. . . and then ran across this video

Wow, he looks a lot like Eric Clapton.

Yes!  That's right!  We didn't get Top Gear here in the US until cable TV and BBC channels.

Back to And Your Bird Can Sing for a moment.  While all that superb lead and rhythm guitar work was being done, here was Paul's bass line...

Well, except for the fact that I didn't see that live, of course.
