Beatles Capitol Box

Being a completist as best I can, I have been wrestling with buying this box set. My gut instinct is not to, and be happy with the Stereo versions I have from different sources, but I keep an open mind, so if any of you that have this set, please post your opinion. This may have been a thread before but I can't remember what the overall consensus was.

A lot of the stereo is real stereo which is one reason for buying it.
Of course there is some duophonic which can be disastrous as with She's A Woman but She Loves You is pretty good.
If you haven't got the original stereo vinyl albums then I think you should get it.

I think most all of them were remastered. I thought the sound was great.

The albums are the same mixes as the original American releases, taken from the US master tapes, so the really bad "stereo" mixes of I Feel Fine and She's A Woman are included - but apart from that I was REALLY impressed with the quality. I can't wait for the next box!

Just ordered it. Looking forward to it and comparing the Stereo US versions with the reverb vs. the Stereo European copies. I do have all of the US releases, but they are so beaten, it will be great to have them on disc. Thanks for everyone's input.

I don't think you'll be disappointed - it's great hearing the differences between the US and UK mixes too, for example on tracks such as Thank You Girl (extra harmonica) and I'm Only Sleeping (more backwards guitar).

Looks like it normally goes for about $70. But, with Amazon.com you save $6.99, so you pay $62.99. But, there are amazon users selling the box set, new/used from $38.49. Might be worth it to check it out.

When I was getting really into the Beatles,I found Meet The Beatles in my stepdad's old record collection. I wanted that. I looked everywhere for it on CD, not yet knowing that there wasn't one on CD (this was a long time ago).

Now they do have it on CD!!! Haha
