It was just announced today that Astrid passed away on Wedneday.

Beatles photographer Astrid Kirchherr dies

Astrid is at the the top of my most admired Beatles photographers list. Her earliest Beatles photos set them apart from their snapshot-wielding contemporaries and gives us a glimpse into that time that we wouldn't have otherwise.

Although Astrid is inextricably linked to The Beatles' early Hamburg days, she also captured them during the filming of A Hard Day's Night. She was on assignment with photographer Max Scheler which likely explains the images of her during that experience. These were by no means the only photos of Astrid and The Beatles together post early Hamburg, but they are a professionally captured at look the relationship she shared with the boys.

They are together, at last.

That's a great photo, Casbah.  Its really pre-fame Beatles with the Beatles haircut probably before they adopted it (other than Pete).

But these two people were very important, Astrid and Stu.  They influenced history in their own way.  Little did they know the phenomenon that they were a part of.

So sorry to hear this. Just getting back online again. She was a very talented photographer, and John obviously felt very deeply for her. She'll be missed.
