Interesting only as recording oddities. But what do people who speak German make of them?

Well, I'm German and I enjoyed hearing the beatles sing in my mother tongue for a change. It's really funny. You can't take it too serious though ...

My wife is German and she thinks they're kind of cute, but she's really amused by the fact they they keep getting played so often on certain internet radio stations. We don't understand that, other than to take it as a novelty. After all, the traditional catalog is pretty well known.

I enjoy hearing them anyway, perhaps as curiosities. I'm also trying to learn the language so every little bit helps, I guess.

Peter Gabriel used to do German versions of his albums. I know of two, anyway. Why not? If you can speak it, why not sing it and expand your work a bit?
