Wow. That's a beautiful story. Your workmates must be really hoping they pick you in secret santa.  :)

They love me. They get humor. I tease. It's endearing to some. :P

And let's not forget A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke.

I would love to do this one, but it's not easy for kids to sing. We're doing We Shall Overcome, Blowin' In the Wind, Positivity (Stevie Wonder), and I Have a Dream/This is Our Moment (combo of MLK and Obama's speeches with singing in between) My principal wanted Man in the Mirror and Respect, but neither really have appropriate lyrics. Maybe just the chorus parts. The kids do others stuff too besides singing. It's really very beautiful. Wish I could show it to you guys. I love teaching this unit cuz it has such meaning and they get so much out of it. I always get choked up when I show them MLK's speech. The kids are so cute when they discuss him and the whole movement. BTW, after explaining the significance of the Bob Dylan tune, my colleagues were thrilled by the suggestion to include it this year. Sometimes it helps to be educated. Ya know, enough reality shows, pick up a book once in a while.

Oh, and I am SO gonna show the kids the video you posted of Dylan and Baez. I sent the link and some Wiki info to the other teacher the day she emailed me the "What does Blowin' in the Wind have to do with anything" email.

How cute will this sound when kids sing it! I can't wait.

The Greatest Love of All - George Benson....It's a classic for the kids to do. Will get most parents tearful. ;)

Surely I can't bring a halt to this thread. I seem to manage it on most others...

reminds me of that scene in Almost Famous where William Miller is doodling the names of his favorite bands on his notebook.

haha, I actually did that back in the day...  I think I still have the page where I did that lol.  It looks a lot like that picture except I actually drew the Rolling Stones symbol right in the middle of the page, I must say, it looked awesome!

You're such a great teacher! That MLK/Obama mash-up sounds really awesome. Where did you get the idea for it?

Some blonde people just annoy the hell out of me, here's why:

me: Okay, so I did 8 of the algebra problems, you just need to solve 5 more.
blond: ...so do we turn it in?
me: no, you need to finish your half of the work
blond: oh...so what's this paper then?
me: that's the homework
blond:oh...should we turn in the problems now?
me:no, you need to finish off your problems
blond: what's this paper for, again?
(etc.)
I got so fed up, that I just did her half, and turned the damn thing in! >:(

Yes, but it wasn't a WINKY face, so I got suspicious.  ;) ;)

My roommate is such an inconsiderate b****! And stupid, too. She's only in three classes and she's barely passing those.

But this one I was partnered with was frustrating, she's failing Algebra anyways.
