My random thought this morning is about music videos. They seem like a waste of time and money to me. If you have a good song, people want to sing it. They don't want to see a video of it.
It seems like everybody who makes music videos thinks they're some kind of very elegant artist. I mean just look at how slick and polished many of these productions are. They seem to focus on extravagance and elegant sets as well as the most fashionably attired performers. So what if you're dirt poor or you're working in fast food, what do you think when you see these music videos that are made by wealthy people who are celebrating the theme of wealth in the content of their videos?
Take a look at Madonna's videos for a good sample of what I'm talking about.
I think music videos are exercises in vanity and nothing more. A good song is meant to be sung along to and shouldn't be limited by the personal fantasy of the person singing it.
