I'm not ashamed of my music taste and you shouldn't be either. The Beatles have influenced so many people. In fact the music your relatives listen to may be influenced by the beatles. Dont be ashamed at all!

here is something I got from this site: http://www.fan-sites.org/the-beatles

WHY IT'S OKAY TO BE A FAN IN 2003

You may be ridiculed a little. You may be called "old" or people may say you're "too young to like that kind of music". Well you know what? It's okay to be a fan. Here's why.

1. Your other favorite bands have been INSPIRED by The Beatles.

2. The Beatles actually make GOOD MUSIC. It can be argued. But in the end, it's clear that The Beatles are the best.

3. Who cares what other people think?

4. Just because John and George have passed on doesn't mean the music is gone. Paul and Ringo are still out there and you can always just pop "The White Album" in your stereo and be rest assured the Beatles will never go away.

5. If people start calling you "old", just cuss them out. Tell them you appreciate good music, and that's what the Beatles have created.

6. Your teachers may actually like you better when they find out you're a fan. Try subtly dropping the hint by putting a Beatles reference in one of your essays.

7. No waiting FOREVER for the next Beatles album to come out.

8. You get the chance to hear all those cool songs and outtakes on the "Anthology" CDs. Need I do more than mention "Shout!" or all those early takes of "Strawberry Fields Forever?"

9. You can always stalk the guys' children (especially Dhani Harrison).

No, I am not ashamed to be a Beatles fan. Like others have said, why should I be? I feel that they are the greatest band in the world so, naturally, I am not ashamed to listen to them.

With that out of the way, I do understand what Wayne is saying. There are many people I know that only know the early hits from the Beatles. Simply put, they have not yet been expossed to the later material, such as the Revolver and White Albums. So in one sense, people could be ashamed because they do not like their early hits, ranging from Love Me Do to others, such as A Hard Days Night.Because of their lack of desire for early hits, they could be ashamed because that is what most people know them for. They may not like the 'pop' music that came with the Beatles during the early stage of their career.

But I like (and support) the list presented by Heart.

there is no GOOD reason. but in modern culture, for youth at least, the beatles are not the "coolest" thing to listen to before. i've gotten flak from a couple friends, maybe around 18 years old each, and people my age are not too tolerant of them. its because the only songs most non-beatles fans have heard are their early songs that are on the radio, and some big hits from later on (Let It Be, etc). so i guess those are reasons, but not good reasons. its music, there is no logical reason to be ashamed of your musical taste. especially not the beatles... c'mon they are the best

Yeah thats the same with me. Being 18, people find my taste in music a bit different, but I've never been ashamed of what i love! and i love the beatles :)

Never been ashamed, no reason to be. I know I'm right! 8)
Used to get a bit of hassle off other kids when I was at school (wondering why I wasn't keen on the latest Ibiza anthems ??)), but people older than myself are generally pleasantly surprised to hear I'm a fan.

Why would you need to be ashamed about liking the Beatles ;D
If anyone says anything pull out some charts and show people who the Beatles are and where they stand as legends making other bands look like crap. The only band that has ever matched them is Queen. And people are ashamed to be Queen fans too (about being homosexual)

You think so? Different era's. But the influence the Beatles had on the whole society, homosexual or not, is unmatched.

Alright, but then there's probably more artists that can match with The Beatles. If it comes to selling and charts... Twelve-year old kids now buy anything they like. My uncle had a copy of She Loves You in 1963 and they whole neighbourhood came to listen to it, nobody else could affort to buy a copy of their own.

I was made to feel ashamed to be a dedicated Beatles fan when I was growing up by some of my stupid relatives from both of my parent's sides of the family for no reason at all as well as by some of my classmates who graduated in 82 but some of them are bums now anyway.
