I love the Beatles harmonies! It was one of the most compelling things about them for me as their signature sound.

In addition to the fabulous songs listed above (of which "Yes It Is" held me in thrall for days), I would like to submit "Help" and "Nowhere Man" and "In My Life". But really, I like them all.

I like the background vocals on She's Leaving Home ,and also the sparse but very effective background vocals on I am The Walrus.

"Anything off Rubber Soul" .... Roger that!

I'll add Paul's harmony on "All I Gotta Do".
And on "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and ""From Me to You" (same harmony basically, I think).

Quote from: 59
Frere Jacques background vocal to Paperback Writer

this has always been a great one...but there's even a more infamous one : John and Paul always thought it was funny to see if they could slip a dirty word or "naughty phrase" into the backround of one of their songs (like "fish and finger pie", "prick teaser"..AND "tit, tit tit" in "Girl" on Rubber Soul) Paul said once, " The Beach Boys had a song out where they'd done "la la la" and we loved the innocence of that and wanted to copy it, but not use the same phrase So we were looking around for another phrase, so it was "dit dit dit", which we decided to change in our waggishness to "tit tit tit" which is virtually indistinguishable from "dit dit dit dit" George Martin asked them "was that "dit dit " or "tit tit" you were singing ?".."oh 'dit dit', George, but it does sound a bit like that, doesnt it? , then we'd get in the car and break down laughing.."

I'm not sure if this counts, but that little yawn from Paul in I'm Only sleping. I LOVE that part! I always listen for it.

In the background.

"Yawn, Paul,"

*short pause*

*Paul yawns*

xD I love it.

I love the harmonies on I Want To Hold Your Hand (I know, I could've chosen a less well-known song to be cooler, but still), Drive My Car and She's Leaving Home, and the backing vocals in Back In The USSR and I Am The Walrus.

I'm a big fan of Octopus' Garden background vocals.  The song is such a happy song, yet there is a depressing tone in the harmonies which contradict the song's tone yet are so beautiful because of it.  It's hard to explain, but if you listen to it, you'll know what I mean.

I get what you mean! I just listened to that one! :)

I love it though, it has a great balance to it! The two different tones even it all out.

Nice observation Frightwolf!  ;D

Norweigan Wood (Paul's harmonizing on the "She told me she worked in the morning... part")
No Reply (I saw the LIIIIIGHT)
I'm So Tired (I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind)
Ballad of John and Yoko (when Paul joins in at the end)
Sexy Sadie (Wa Wa Wa)
I Don't Want to Spoil the Party (Though tonight she's made me sad I still love her)
You Can't Do That (Everybody's greeeen)
All You Need is Love (She loves you yeah yeah yeah)
Yes It Is (Gorgeous harmonies all around)
Yes, it's a pretty Paul filled list. In my opinion any song Paul sings on makes it better. :) Even if it's only in the background. I've noticed that he sings on nearly all of George's songs, many of Johns and double tracks his voice more on songs more often than the others.
