The Guilty
2021
Jake Gyllenhaal

Monumentally boring film imo. Jake is a 911 operator and spends the entire film talking to a woman who is in distress, tbh I got sick of looking at his face. Its gripping in a way but not recommended by me.

Ive been watching a Dutch series, a bit like The Sopranos called Penoza.
5 seasons long Ive really enjoyed it. Very well made, and now I can say a few words in Dutch.  ha2ha

Up to season 4 on this. It is enjoyable. At one point though I felt like strangling all her kids as they seem to do the dumbest things and make everything so much worse.

Yeah but....
Can you imagine having a Mother like her, how many times does she assure them that everything will be fine  ha2ha

The daughter is a terrible actress imo.

Snow Cake
Sigourney Weaver
Alan Rickman
2006

What a great movie, based in Canookia. I won't spill the plot but it's kind of riveting.
Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman are brilliant in their different ways. The other lovely thing about this film is that it's so "non-Hollywood". Watching this film I got to laugh, cry and feel that people can amaze and inspire.

7.5/10

I liked this film so much I rewatched it last night. Never knew there was a town called Wawa. Anyhoo, nice film.

The daughter is a terrible actress imo.

It wasn’t the best environment to grow up in true. Father and mother both drug dealers and killers. Even if they were nice about it.

Yes the daughter is pretty annoying and unconvincing. The grandmother does a great job though, considering she has one facial expression.

Yes, it is.

That’s heavy. I watched it when it came out. It was about the same time as The Day After. But a lot bleaker.

Old Henry

Really enjoyed it.  Nice Western with a cool plot twist.

Yes; The Day After seems very tame in comparison.

Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle (2018)

Excellent, but again a bit heavy. The psychology of Jim Jones and his followers fascinates me. Decades after first reading about it, I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that some people even signed over their parental rights to him.

You’re watching very cheery stuff!

The Jonestown cult was incredible. I suppose that’s what cults do though. They inculcate their philosophy so thoroughly in their members they’ll do pretty much anything for the leader.  Interesting thing about Jones was that he started as a Christian cult leader and morphed into a sort of communist/Marxist philosophy. And took his followers with him.
