It's been overcast and rainy for days. One daughter's in IA, one's in MN, and my son's been working, leaving me lots of time to read and nap. I did get out for coffee with friends a few times,  ;)  but other than that it's been nice and quiet: Just me and cuddly little Bear.

I’m so glad you have your little cuddle pal, Kathy. I was just thinking today how sad I was when there were no dogs around here. Thursday marked a year since Molly arrived. We celebrated by taking her to Ithaca yesterday to visit Kelsie. She got to walk by a waterfall at a state park and go to the arboretum at Cornell. It was her first big trip and she really loved it. What a difference since last year! On a weather-related note, we drove into a huge thunderstorm with torrential rain on the way home. All of our phones started screeching because there was a tornado warning but we were heading away from it. I don’t think anything touched down, fortunately.

Did you catch a glimpse of the rooster down in the gorge?

ha2ha No, we didn’t make it there. But Molly did play with the new one back at Kelsie’s apartment.

Thursday marked a year since Molly arrived.

Wow; I can't believe it's been a year already!

We celebrated by taking her to Ithaca yesterday to visit Kelsie. She got to walk by a waterfall at a state park and go to the arboretum at Cornell. It was her first big trip and she really loved it. What a difference since last year!

I bet you all loved Ithaca. I grew up so close to there, and then went to college nearby, but I never took the chance to explore it.

On a weather-related note, we drove into a huge thunderstorm with torrential rain on the way home. All of our phones started screeching because there was a tornado warning but we were heading away from it. I don’t think anything touched down, fortunately.

Yikes! My daughter and her boyfriend drove down to his mom's place in Iowa, and they actually saw a funnel cloud, although it didn't touch down. I do not miss those days from living in Missouri. Tornadoes terrify me. Luckily my ex showed me cloud formations that portend them (e.g., wall clouds) and things to look for on radar (e.g., a bow echo), but being in a car was always the scariest, especially because there's no place to go! And lying flat on the ground with my hands over my head does not sound that appealing.

I'm glad you all had a good trip and made it home safely.

Me too, Kathy. I heard a comment on the news that the whole country had turned into Tornado Alley. It did seem like it for a while.

We are starting to cool down a bit here, too. I'm not ready for snow yet, though. roll:)

I could do with perpetual fall! I had a little scare yesterday. I glanced at the paper at work and it said that our county and the adjoining one had been visited by winter weather. It was a paper from November that someone had pulled out from the archives and left where the current one usually is. LOL

^^^^^^^

Yikes! That would have given me pause, too, Kelley. We've been known to have blizzards in September; I sure hope that doesn't happen this year.

I, too, wish we could have perpetual fall. How are the foliage colors in New York, or haven't they turned yet? I get so homesick this time of year.

Whew! And I thought it was bad here yesterday. It only got up to 79 but it felt like a jungle...not that I‘ve ever actually been to a jungle.

breaking records every day this week in Atlanta, hottest days ever for October, today will be another record high.  This year we've also broken the most days over 90 in a year, seems like it has been two or more months since we last had a real rain.  Tonight it is supposed to drop into the 70's for the next week or so, more normal.  Gotta admit, I like it hot though...

Oh, man; just checked the forecast and we have a winter storm on the way later this week. I am NOT ready for this. Unfortunately, I have no choice.  ;)
