Suggestions needed – opening party

My girlfriend is opening a hair-saloon and has asked me to burn a compilation with songs to serve as background music for the opening party.

So far I have decided on:

Ain't Got No - I Got Life (Remix - Radio Edit) : Nina Simone v Groovefinder

 - if I try to categorize it... well, I´m looking for something like downtempo/trip-hop/electronica/indie/dub.

I know the songs I listed myself do not all fit into that category. You know, I´m also in for the classics.

Not too ambient though...

I like your choices btw.

Thanks, I´ve never heard that soundtrack nor seen the movie. I will check it out.

Oh you definitely gotta have some Daft Punk then. I personally don't like them much myself, but they fit right in with the category you're looking for. However, an artist I DO like is Yelle, great 'party' stuff.

Light On - David Cook (I'd reccomend checking out David Cooks whole album, it sounds like what you'd want)
Futersex/Lovesounds - Justin Timberlake

Since i've never heard any of these songs, I dont think my suggestions would hold much clout.
