Here, There, and Everywhere 2009 documentary
« on: August 23, 2021, 07:19:05 PM »

I'd never heard of this one. Just bought it from Amazon Prime for $2.99, so even if it's awful I'm not out too much.  ;)

If anyone's seen it, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Can’t say I’ve heard of it. Interested what you think of it.

^^^^

:)  I haven't watched it yet but am looking forward to it. Apparently it's a fan creation, much like Jeff Stein's The Kids Are Alright.

I also noticed this one, which looks to be more geared toward musicians but likely is beyond my ken: Composing the Beatles Songbook: Lennon and McCartney 1966–1970.

I meant to type ". . .  and so likely is beyond my ken. . ."

Just finished watching this. It was good. It was indeed very much like The Kids Are Alright, a string of interviews, etc., with no narration. Just straight Beatles.  :)

I meant to add that it was interesting not only watching the Beatles change in physical appearance over the years (compressed as those years were into a 90-minute documentary) but also, and more so, to observe the changes in the way they dealt with, responded to, the press. I'd recommend it.

On Encyclopedia Titanica a discussion arose about Titanic documentaries (which, this close to the 110th anniversary of the sinking, are proliferating again) and how the term documentary seems to be applied much more generously than it has in the past. Back in the 80s, the word documentary promised a fact-based, scientific examination of a particular topic; these days, it's slapped on anything that's based on a true-life event, accuracy be damned.

I wonder how the myriad Beatles documentaries compare with one another. I can assess ocean liner shows much better than I can Beatles shows, although I'm very slowly getting better at the latter.

Just thought I'd throw this out there.
